Roco Kingdom still has no public global release date, but its first global closed beta now has a date: the Quack Quack Test starts on 27 October 2026 at 02:00 UTC on PC, Android and iOS. This does not make the game publicly downloadable. Only selected testers can get the PC launcher, through their confirmation email or the official website after eligibility checks open on 23 October.
The official global announcement, English website, Steam page, PlayStation 5 page and Xbox Series X|S listing are all live. Recruitment runs through 20 October, but registration is not the same as getting access, and the closed-beta calendar is not the finished game’s launch window.
Roco Kingdom’s listed PC price is free to play. In a Gamescom interview published August 28, narrative director and localization lead Xiaoye Tang said the global game is not gacha and described its paid model as a Battle Pass plus cosmetics. The pass can directly grant one of two Jinies, but the same type can still be attracted into a player’s world and caught without buying the pass. Steam separately discloses in-app purchases, and no current source publishes the actual pass, currency or cosmetic prices. The selected October test disables purchases entirely and wipes progress afterward; that test rule is not the finished game’s permanent economy.
That distinction matters because many older English pages still describe the global version as unannounced. They were accurate before this week’s reveal and are now stale. The safest current route is the official global site or a first-party store page, not an APK mirror or a countdown copied from an older China launch.
Roco Kingdom status at a glance
| Question | Verified answer on 28 August 2026 |
|---|---|
| Is a global version official? | Yes. The English site, official announcement trailer and first-party store pages are live. |
| Global release date | Not announced. Steam and PlayStation currently show an undated future release. |
| Confirmed global store pages | Steam, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S; the Xbox listing also identifies PC. |
| Mobile status | The official closed-beta survey accepts iOS and Android applicants, but it does not give a finished mobile launch date. |
| English support | Steam lists English interface, full audio and subtitles. |
| Price and monetization | Free to play; the developer says Battle Pass plus cosmetics and explicitly says it is not gacha. Actual pass, currency and cosmetic prices are not published. |
| Closed beta | Recruitment runs 26 August–20 October; the selected test starts 27 October at 02:00 UTC on PC, Android and iOS. |
| PC download now | No public global client. Selected testers can pre-download the PC launcher after checking eligibility from 23 October. |
| China version | Roco Kingdom: World (洛克王国:世界) has been live in mainland China since 26 March 2026 on PC and mobile. |
| Switch or Mac | No official page reviewed here confirms either platform. |
The status map on this page separates the live China product, the newly announced global product and the current test recruitment. They are related, but they are not one release state.
Can you download Roco Kingdom on PC now?
Not as a public global release. Steam currently offers a wishlist page rather than an install button. If MoreFun selects an applicant for the Quack Quack Test, the official FAQ says the player can use the Pre-Download – PC Launcher button in the confirmation email, or sign in at the official Roco Kingdom site, verify eligibility and download the launcher there.
That route is different from downloading Roco Kingdom: World for the mainland China server. The China PC client has been live since March, but it uses a different market, account and service environment. A search for “Roco Kingdom World PC” may surface China-client guides that do not provide access to the selected global test.
For a U.S. player, the safe decision path is short:
- apply at the official global site by 20 October;
- check the same Level Infinite account for eligibility from 23 October;
- download only from the confirmation email or signed-in official site if selected;
- do not treat a third-party launcher or China-client guide as the global test build.
What changed this week
On 25 August, the official Roco Kingdom YouTube channel published an English announcement trailer and linked to the new global website. The site now sends players to Steam, PlayStation and Xbox pages and invites them to pre-register or apply for the Quack Quack Test. The official Steam news feed then published the test start, supported languages, eligibility check and selected-player download route.
This is stronger evidence than a rumour about localization. A player can now verify an English product identity, official social accounts and first-party platform records. It still does not establish a launch day. Steam and the U.S. PlayStation Store both show an undated future release.
If a search result says there is no global announcement, check when it was updated. If it gives an exact global release date, look for that date on the official site or platform page. As of this review, there is none.
Roco Kingdom and Roco Kingdom: World are two current names
The mainland China game is titled Roco Kingdom: World, or 洛克王国:世界. Tencent’s first-quarter 2026 results use that name for the PC-and-mobile game launched on 26 March.
The new English website and global platform pages use the shorter title Roco Kingdom. That does not make the global listing an unrelated game. The official descriptions share the Carosia setting, Rocos, Jinies, Magic Academy, creature collection and open-world structure.
For search and download purposes, keep the names attached to their market context:
- Roco Kingdom: World usually points to the already-running mainland China version, Chinese guides and China-server downloads.
- Roco Kingdom now identifies the announced global version and its English platform pages.
- A page written before 25 August may call the global version hypothetical because the current announcement did not yet exist.
Do not assume that accounts, progress, event schedules, prices or content will transfer between versions unless MoreFun publishes a specific cross-region policy.
Which platforms are actually confirmed?
The answer depends on whether “confirmed” means a public store page, a beta questionnaire or a future possibility.
| Platform | Current evidence | What it does not prove |
|---|---|---|
| Windows PC | Steam page is live with an undated future release | a launch date, final download size or support for every PC |
| PlayStation 5 | U.S. PlayStation Store concept page is live | a dated release or PlayStation 4 version |
| Xbox Series X|S | Official Xbox store listing identifies Xbox Series X|S | a dated release or Xbox One version |
| iOS | Official test survey accepts iOS device information | App Store launch date or universal test access |
| Android | Official test survey asks for a Google Play account and device RAM | Google Play launch date, regional availability or APK safety |
| Nintendo Switch | No confirming official page found in the reviewed launch set | that a Switch version is impossible |
| macOS | Steam currently lists Windows requirements, not macOS | that a later Mac version is impossible |
The official site uses “cross-platform” language, and Steam lists cross-platform multiplayer. Those statements support a connected product plan. They do not yet explain every account-transfer, server, progression or cross-save rule.
How the Quack Quack Test works
The official site calls this a closed beta. Its event rules say recruitment runs from 26 August through 20 October 2026. An applicant must complete the test survey. Inviting friends who successfully pre-register increases selection priority, but neither submission nor invitations guarantee a place.
The survey asks applicants to select iOS, Android or PC and provide relevant device information. Android applicants are told that access will be granted to a Google Play account and are encouraged to use the same email as their Level Infinite account.
Four dates and states must stay separate:
- Recruitment period: the published 26 August–20 October window.
- Eligibility check: applicants can sign in from 23 October to see whether the account was selected.
- Closed-beta start: 27 October 2026 at 02:00 UTC, with PC, Android and iOS clients for selected testers.
- Global launch: still undated, with no official day announced.
The FAQ says English and Japanese are supported during this test, PC and mobile progress sync during the test, purchases are disabled, and all test characters and progress will be wiped afterward. None of those test rules proves the finished game’s launch date, permanent cross-save system or final economy.
Apply only through the official Roco Kingdom site. A third-party “English APK” is not required to join the official test and may not represent the announced global client.
Is Roco Kingdom free, and what is its price?
The global Windows version is listed as free to play on Steam. There is no upfront dollar price on the current store record. Steam separately marks the game as containing in-app purchases, so “free to download” should not be rewritten as “everything is free.”
The new Gamescom developer interview fills in the category, not the dollar amounts. Xiaoye Tang describes the finished model as a Battle Pass and cosmetics and says the game is not gacha. A paid pass can let a player choose one of two Jinies directly, but a non-paying player can use an item that attracts that Jini type—or visit another player’s world after an invitation—and catch it without buying the pass.
That is a more concrete answer than “in-app purchases.” It still does not publish the Battle Pass price, cosmetic prices, premium currencies, pass schedule or every optional purchase. The page therefore reports the developer’s no-gacha design statement without expanding it into “nothing random can ever happen” or “the whole game is free.”
The Quack Quack Test has a narrower rule: its official FAQ says in-game purchases are disabled and all characters and progress will be wiped when the test ends. A no-purchase closed beta does not prove that the finished game will remove the in-app purchases disclosed on Steam.
What kind of game is it?
MoreFun describes Roco Kingdom as an open-world creature-collecting RPG set on the continent of Carosia. Players are Rocos; the creatures are called Jinies. The official launch material emphasizes five systems:
- exploring an open world with more than 400 Jinies;
- forming pacts and collecting creatures with visible individual variation;
- turn-based tactical PvP with levels equalized;
- shared exploration and co-riding with friends;
- Magic Academy life, home building, outfits and seasonal activities.
This is why quick descriptions compare it with both Pokémon and Genshin Impact. The comparison is useful only at the level of familiar verbs: catch creatures, explore a large world and play with others. It does not establish the same combat, progression, monetization or world structure as either series.
The official copy says all 400-plus Jinies are free to catch and promotes “zero paywalls.” Treat that as a developer claim about the collection loop, not proof that the entire product has no monetization. Steam separately discloses in-app purchases. Until the global terms and store economy are published, “not paywalled to catch” and “contains no purchases” should not be treated as the same statement.
The China launch explains why this is not starting from zero
The global reveal is new; the underlying game is not an untested concept. Tencent reported that Roco Kingdom: World sustained more than 13 million average daily active users across PC and mobile in its first month after the 26 March China launch. Tencent also said it ranked among China’s top ten mobile games by gross receipts for that period, citing Sensor Tower.
Those numbers establish significant operation at home. They do not predict U.S. adoption, global server quality or the final international business model. Localization, platform certification, moderation, account infrastructure and player expectations can make the global product a different operating challenge.
The longer history also matters. Roco Kingdom is a Chinese childhood IP being reintroduced to an audience that may never have seen the original web game. Calling it simply “China’s Pokémon clone” erases that local history; calling it completely unprecedented hides the recognizable creature-collector grammar. The useful question is what this version does with that grammar and how well it travels.
What PC players should check before wishlisting or testing
Steam currently lists a 64-bit Windows 10 minimum, 16 GB of RAM, an Intel Core i5-7500 or AMD Ryzen 5 1400 minimum processor, and higher recommended processors. It also states that the game requires a Level Infinite Pass account linked to Steam and uses Easy Anti-Cheat at kernel level.
Those details may matter more than a trailer frame. Before joining a test:
- compare the live Steam requirements with the actual machine;
- decide whether the third-party account requirement is acceptable;
- review the current anti-cheat and privacy terms rather than assuming they match the China client;
- wait for the official client route instead of installing an unofficial patch or APK;
- expect test progress, stability and availability to be temporary unless the test rules say otherwise.
The official pages can change quickly during recruitment. The date at the top of this article is therefore part of the answer, not decoration.
Questions readers ask next
What is the Roco Kingdom global release date?
No date has been announced. Steam and the U.S. PlayStation Store currently show an undated future release. The 26 August–20 October dates belong to closed-beta recruitment, not the retail or open-beta launch.
Is Roco Kingdom: World available in English?
An official English global version is now announced, and Steam lists English interface, full audio and subtitles. That is different from using an unofficial translation with the mainland China client.
Is Roco Kingdom coming to PS5 and Xbox?
Yes, official store pages now exist for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Neither page currently supplies a release date.
Is Roco Kingdom on Steam?
Yes. The official Steam page is live for Windows and can be wishlisted, but the game is not yet available there.
Can I download Roco Kingdom now in the United States?
Not as a normal global release. You can apply for the selected Quack Quack Test through the official site and wishlist the first-party store pages. If selected, use the PC-launcher link in the confirmation email or the signed-in official website; application does not guarantee test access.
Is Roco Kingdom free to play or gacha?
It is free to play. MoreFun’s narrative director and localization lead says Roco Kingdom is not a gacha game and identifies Battle Passes and cosmetics as the paid model. A Battle Pass can directly grant one of two Jinies, but the same type remains catchable without paying. Exact prices and the complete purchase schedule are still unpublished.
Is Roco Kingdom made by Tencent?
It is developed and published by MoreFun Studios. MoreFun identifies itself as a Tencent Games studio, and Tencent reports Roco Kingdom: World in its domestic-games results.
